The role
The incumbent will be based in Japan with the role as a Surveyor to oversee and carry out surveys in ship operations and ship repair.
This is a varied and challenging role while specialising in damage surveys & investigation for hull & machinery insurance interests, our surveyors are also involved in warranty, liability, cargo, offshore project work and general consultancy, providing technical support and expert witness to our varied client base including Ship owner, P&I clubs, Underwriters and Solicitors.
The person
The potential candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Good university degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or related disciplines;
- Possess a foreign going Chief Engineer/Master Mariner certificate or equivalent as minimum;
- Seagoing, shipyard or ship management experience in a senior capacity preferred;
- Fluent in spoken and written English, Japanese;
- Past experience in surveying, ship repair, conversion, or marine consultancy services would be an advantage;
- Be willing to accept overseas transfer or foreign assignments.
