The role
The managing Consultant’s role will be to initially establish the company’s capacity in the region, and to obtain and perform survey/consultancy instructions from the P&I Clubs & Admiralty Lawyers based in Singapore. This role will be supported by the rest of the team from other regional offices, both in terms of marketing and technical support and delivery.
Once operation is established, additional consultants will be recruited as the workload demands, and the Managing consultant’s role will develop to include managing his team, in addition to the normal business development and fee-earning activities.
The person
Specification for the right person shall be as follows:\
- Qualified Master Mariner or Chief Engineer (additional academic qualification will be desirable);
- Served in a senior capacity at sea (Master or C/O, E/Eng, Eng or etc…)
- Significant experience as a marine consultant/surveyor;
- Significant experience of casualty management – collisions/groundings, fires, pollution, salvage, wreck removal and etc…
- Significant experience in writing expert reports, providing expert evidence in court, arbitration cases and etc…
- Physically fit for surveying works;
- Known to P&I Clubs and Admiralty Lawyers;
- Need to be comfortable with business development works, visiting potential clients/giving presentations/attending events.
