The company
One of our major clients’ who is the World Leader in installation, design, fabrication, and servicing on a supply or lease/operate basis of loading and offloading mooring terminals, as well as storage (FPSOs/FSOs) systems and tanker-based floating production for the offshore oil and gas industry.
The role
Being one of the main pillar that makes up the Naval Architecture Department, the incumbent is expected to perform the following tasks:
• To second the Head of Department in training and coaching the engineers and designers in his/her discipline. To manage the Department in the absence of the Head of Department;
• To design, and review designs of the marine system components of the Company's products, mainly new-built FPSO or converted tankers;
• To identify and write specifications relevant to the marine systems of the Company's products (e.g. specifications for conversion and refurbishment of existing marine systems, specifications for marine equipment, etc...);
• To perform calculations to size the marine system components, in accordance with the relevant international codes, with the Company standards and with client's specifications;
• To write philosophy documents and technical specifications related to above-mentioned systems;
• To participate in HAZID / HAZOP studies;
• To review, comment and approve technical documentation (drawings / specifications / manuals / etc.) submitted by suppliers and subcontractors;
• To inspect oil tankers, LNG and LPG tankers;
• To visit Company (or others’) offshore installations to perform specific tasks;
• To keep abreast of latest developments in Marine Engineering technology (system components / equipment / etc...);
• To follow-up and participate into legislation developments (C.S. and IMO Rules and Regulations / etc...);
• To specify and elaborate design tools (software / etc...);
• To establish Departmental Work Instructions;
• To coordinate activities with other departments and sister companies;
• To act as mentor for trainees and apprentices;
• To select and recruit new graduates and to train them.
The person
The potential candidate must possess the following:
• MSc or BSc degree in a relevant engineering discipline;
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in the design of marine systems of FPSO’s or alternatively oil tankers and/or gas carriers;
• Familiar with shipbuilding industry practices and oil & gas industry practices;
• Experience with CAD software programs is a plus.
